Collaborating in the Face of Global Impact: The International Climate Responsive Counselling Survey

climate responsive counselling

We would like to invite you to participate in a research study conducted in partnership by IAC, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Open University (OU).

Climate change is recognised globally to be affecting all aspects of people’s lives. Mental health issues are expected to increase with continued global warming across the world. Increasing numbers of people across age groups are concerned about the impact of climate change themselves and on the lives of their children. Vulnerable communities such as those with pre-existing health conditions, young people, indigenous peoples, and others who tend to be underserved in their society, are more affected (World Health Organisation, 2022).

The aims of this study are to map out the scope and range of activity undertaken by national counselling/psychotherapy membership organisations globally as well as exploring the nature and range of issues relating to climate change that are raised by their numbers. It is hoped that findings from this survey will support further collaborative working and sharing of good practice and resources among organisations as well as identifying areas for future research and facilitating further research partnerships.

You can access the survey via this linkPlease share this link with whoever is the most appropriate/relevant person in your organisation who can complete the responses. We anticipate that it will take no more than 20 minutes to complete. For further information or if you have any questions you can contact either Clare Symons (BACP), Naomi Moller (The Open University) or Naoise Kelly (IAC).
